Rational:

The goal of this workshop is to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of the Exo-planetary system formation and evolution based on our current understanding. Protoplanetary disc and Exoplanet discoveries have enormously expanded our understanding of planet formation in recent years. The detection and characterization of many terrestrial planets, as well as constraining the structure and atmospheric conditions of them motivate searching for plausible tracers of life in their atmospheres for the next generation of telescopes. We discuss the most recent discoveries in exoplanetary studies and observational approaches whereas using exoplanet chemistry as probes of habitability. Participants will develop knowledge of the astrophysical processes which explain the observed properties of protoplanetary discs and planetary systems. Postdocs, Ph.D., MSc, and even interested higher undergraduate students are highly encouraged to participate in this workshop. The themes to be covered in the workshop are:

  1. From stars to planets:
    • The birth of stars and the formation of circumstellar disk
    • Planet formation in protoplanetary disk
    • Planet formation in binary systems
    • The impact of host stars on exoplanets
  2. Exoplanets:
    • Detection methods and their characteristics
  3. Structure of planets:
    • Planetary interior
    • Atmosphere of planet: modelling and observation
    • Habitability and Detection of life
